About the Bali Nines Masters Football Championship...

The Bali 9’Äôs creates an opportunity for teams to challenge each other in a unique, modified version of the great Australian game. Teams consist of only nine players on the field, with six substitutes available. Played on a soccer field, which is much smaller than the field usually used for Aussie Rules, and with halves of only twelve minutes, the games of 9’Äôs is faster, more action packed and higher scoring than the normal-ruled game.

The Bali 9s Masters is a division of the successful Bali 9s event ’Äì a division catering for those over 35 years of age. Masters football is very popular in Australia, with thousands of participants playing regular games in a number of divisions based on age. The Bali 9s creates an opportunity for teams to challenge each other in a unique, modified version of the great Australian game. Teams will consist of only nine players on a field similar in size to Rugby. The added regulation for the Bali 9s Masters is that all players must be turning 35 or more during 2007. There are also a number of other minor changes made to the normal AFL rules.

In this the fourth annual event, participating teams come from both Asia and Australia, and is hosted by Bali's very own Geckos. Bali’Äôs new recreational and social private members club, The Canggu Club, is the host venue for this year’Äôs event, and with its newly laid field and international standard facilities, it makes for a fantastic setting.
